About Us

Achieving Excellence Together

Explore Knowledge Academy

Our Founder

Dr. Joan Sando, a true pioneer in Nevada's charter school movement, founded the school to provide the families of Southern Nevada with a one-of-a-kind educational experience. The school she envisioned, Explore Knowledge Academy (EKA), received approval in April of 2002. Priding itself on Personalizing Education and Challenging Minds, EKA's goal is to open the world of learning and leadership to young people. At EKA, teachers, students, parents, and community members work together to create life-long leaders through the use of 21st-century learning methods and the integration of modern technology. Always working to keep pace with real-world student needs, EKA has provided iPads or Chromebooks to each student from Kindergarten through 12th grade for their use while on campus.

Our Educational Program

At Explore Knowledge Academy, we provide a rigorous K-12 academic program that empowers students by personalizing the student learning experiences. Our interactive, accessible curriculum platforms use technology to inspire teachers and enhance student engagement in ways that they can achieve optimal learning.

Explore Knowledge Academy is the only K-12 school in Nevada to offer Public Speaking to all students. Our public speaking program empowers students to develop leadership, creativity, and strong organizational skills.

We support the social, emotional, and academic needs of all students by developing strong partnerships between parents, students, teachers, and staff and through targeted school discussions and activities with our students.

At EKA, students are given the tools for success and the support of the EKA community to achieve it.
