Orientations for New Students

Orientations for new students are currently being held. K-5 student orientations are held Tuesday's at 9 a.m. These are held in the first building. 6-12 student orientations are held Wednesday's at 1 p.m. and are held in the second, or middle, building.

EKA Phase II Construction Leaps Final Hurdle!

Tonight the Clark County School District Board of Trustees approved the change in EKA's charter for us to occupy the two new buildings at the Mountain Vista site! Thank you to everyone who has put so much hard work and effort into this endeavor.

Whitney Library Window Displays by EKA

Whitney Library’s display windows are now featuring works from Explore Knowledge Academy’s students!

Advisors from the secondary campus selected choice products from their students. After rounding up the advisors’ selections, Ms. Chapman and Ms. Mendoza spent an afternoon constructing the display.

Although space is limited at the library, each advisor will have a chance to have their students’ work featured. The library staff will be allowing EKA to rotate items displayed.

So far, the featured projects focus mainly on science-related topics. For instance, one of Ms. Mendoza’s students completed a project on plants. The pupil produced a display of a nature scene. The student used both real and synthetic plants. She also incorporated plastic animals that she recycled, thus showing her concern for the environment.

So, when you get a chance, visit Whitney Library to see students’ stunning work. The library is located minutes away from the school (5175 East Tropicana) and is usually open until 7 pm.

Sock and Underwear Collection

The Elementary has decided to do a sock/underwear collection for Child Haven for the months of November and December starting on November 8 until the last day of school in December.

Items must be NEW and can be for children ranging of ages from newborns through 18, so all sizes are needed.

Collection boxes are in the front office for drop off.

Please note, EKA will be closed Friday October 28th and Monday October 31st, including the business office and front desks at both campuses. School will resume on Tuesday, November 1.

Also, please remember that the school day times are changing beginning November 1: 7:45am school start, 2:45pm school end for Elementary, and 8am school start, 3:30pm school end for Secondary.
