EKA PTSA flyers are available in the front office of Sandhill or Community Lane with all their upcoming events.

Cookie Dough!!

Our cookie dough fundraiser will be starting soon.  Order packets will be sent out Thursday, February 18th.  Orders must be in no later than March 2nd.  We can not accept late orders after March 2nd.   Please make sure the information on the envelope and order forms are completely filled out so your order will be correct.  Orders will be delivered March 24th.  They are perishable and we have no way of storing them, so when you get the notice that your order has arrived make sure to come in and pick them up.

Now Selling Milk and Frozen Fruit Bars

Both Sandhill and Community Lane campus’ are now selling milk and frozen fruit bars at lunchtime.  Milk is $.50 and the fruit bars are $1.00.

Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year will begin on Monday, February 1st.  It is open to any new student.  Re-Enrollment for existing students will begin March 1st and will end on March 26th.  Please make sure if you are planning for your student to attend EKA that you fill out the form when it is sent home.  If you do not, your space will be filled by a student that signed up in Open Enrollment.  Placement for all students will begin Tuesday April 6th.

Crystal Palace Skate Night

February 17th from 3:30 to 6:30.  Parents skate for free.  Students and siblings skate for $5.00 and that includes a choice of hotdog or pizza and a drink.  $1.00 for every paid student is returned to the PTSA.

Bounce U Night

February 24th 5:30-7:00pm and 7pm-8:30 pm IS Bounce U Night!  Tickets are $7.00 each and 50% of the ticket sales will go to the PTSA.    It is located at 1000 Stephanie Place, Suite 16 Henderson, NV 89014

Free Knitting/Crochet Class

There are free knitting classes at lunchtimes, every Wednesday, at the Sandhill Campus.  Any parents wishing to donate yarn, knitting and crochet needles, time, it would be greatly appreciated.  We have a good group of kids knitting; it is fun to see them so excited about it.  Contact Koreen Chapman with any questions or to drop off donations.

Art Supply Donations

We are looking for donations of art supplies.  Anything from paper, brushes, paints, yarn, buttons, glues, ribbons, scissors…anything.  Let your mind go wild.  Community Lane and Sandhill Campus’ will have marked donation boxes in the front offices.

Spring Carnival

Our Spring Carnival will be here before we know it.  Contact the PTSA if you would like to volunteer or have an idea for a booth you would like to enter.  Email Angie at astory1001@aol.com.

A Piece of Love

Explore Knowledge Academy has so much love that we want to share it with our Community! Please give a piece of yours by participating in this heartwarming opportunity. All you need to do is crochet or knit at least one 7" x 9" piece. The NHS/NJHS will collect the pieces and sew them together to make afghans. They will then donate them to The Shade Tree. They will also include a personalized note with each one so the recipients can know who sent their love. The more pieces we are able to collect the more lives we will be able to touch. Don't know how to knit or crochet? Mrs. Chapman said she would be happy to set up a little mini class to teach us!  Thank you to all the parents and students who have brought pieces so far, keep them coming!

Nevada Reading Week

March 24th through 26th is Nevada Reading Week.  “Pick a Book From the Reading Garden” is this year’s theme.  More information will be coming on this event.

Community Clean-Up

Many thanks, to all the parents and students who participated in the February 8th cleanup efforts.  It was great to see our community come together in such a positive activity.

Yearbooks

Explore Knowledge Academy Yearbooks can be ordered at www.Jostens.com.  If purchased before 2-26-10 the price will be $30.00.  Order forms will be available in the front office of each campus as well.  If purchased after 2-26-10 they will cost $40.00.  So order today!
