To Whom It May Concern,

My daughter, Jennie, found your school on the Internet. She begged me to take her for an orientation interview with Mr. Price. She did, she dressed up in a suit and went to the interview with her father. She asked questions that concerned her and assessed your school. That day when I was done teaching she told me this was her new school. I withdrew her from the CCSD School she was attending and began the application process immediately. My daughter is a student with several disabilities. Her disabilities do not impair her cognitively. But, she has tics, anxiety, and an inability to interpret social norms. She started EKA this 2009- 2010 school. This has been the best thing in years for my daughter. This school is better than all the counseling I have paid for.

Last week my daughter presented a power point presentation to over 130 students and staff. It made my entire family cry. She stood in front of her peers and told them she has Tourettes, OCD, ADHD, and Aspergers. She listed how each one affects her. She told these children (whom were extremely respectful) that she wants friends and she wants to fit in. This was an amazing moment that everyone needs to know about. The entire staff of EKA on Sandhill has changed our lives. They have changed my daughter s life. Mr. Price has been amazing. Mrs. G is outstanding. Mr. G took the time to understand my daughter and has brought amazing abilities. From every class she attends she is growing and learning. I am the happiest mother you may know.

Over 130 of your students sat and listened without a word. Nobody talked, every child was paying attention. After her presentation children whom she did not know are now taking the time to get to know her. They have started sitting next to her in classes. They are introducing other children to her. She is the happiest and most well adjusted I can remember since 2nd grade. During her presentation two young men told my daughter they feel the same way she does and they would be her friend. Another student asked nobody here treats you badly do they? Her answer was No.

If there is anything my daughter and I can do to assist you in sharing our message about your school please do not hesitate to let us know. I am amazed and thrilled with all of Jennie's progress this year. A young lady asked my daughter if she could take away one of her disabilities which one would it be. Jennie answered None, I like myself, just the way I am. Any parent with a child with substantial challenges dreams of this day. This day happened due to the integrity, caring, and individualized instruction she has received from you staff in the 5/6 advisory at Explore Knowledge Academy.

One Thrilled EKA Parent
