Steve Delgado (6^th grader) had another outstanding run with a second place finish in the 5^th/6^th grade boys race.  Joel Walls finished in 12^th place and Blake Smith came in 15^th place.

In the 5^th/6^th grade girls race, Kylie Keyer lead the girls with a 11^th place finish and was closely followed by Marygrace Head in 15^th place.  Other finishers for EKA were Brandi Newell in 24^th place, Ashley Smith in 30^th place, Emily Piacitilli in 34^th place and Amber Smith in 49^th place.

Triana Charles improved to a 5^th place finish and teammates Stephanie Truss-Sase finished in 19^th place and Brittany Maler came in 22^nd place.

In the final race of the afternoon, Alex Burns had a strong first race with a 14^th place finish, Eithan Maler came in 17^th place, Bradley Keyer in 20^th place and Matt Bentley finished in 26^th place.

The cross country team competes again on Wednesday, September 30^th at Las Vegas Day School.

EKA middle school (grades 5^th-8^th) cross country athletes competed at Faith Lutheran Jr./Sr. High School on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 for the first cross country meet of the season for the Red Rock Athletic Conference. EKA had 13 middle school runners compete.

The cross country meet was comprised of four races: 5^th/6^th grade boys, 5^th/6^th grade girls, 7^th/8^th grade girls and finally, 7^th/8^th grade boys. The top EKA male performance in the 5^th/6^th boys race came from 6^th grader Steve Delgado who finished 3^rd overall and the top EKA female performance in 5^th/6^th grade girls race was 5^th grader Kylie Keyer who finished 15^th overall. Also, racing well in the 7^th/8^th grade girls race was 8^th grader Triana Charles who finished 6^th overall. In the 7^th/8^th grade boys race, 8^th grader Eithan Maler finished 13^th to be EKA's top finisher in this race.

EKA had solid performances from all the team's participants. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our student athletes. EKA's next cross country meet is Wednesday, September 23^rd at Las Vegas Day School beginning at 4:30pm for the first race.

Cross-Country Team

Explore Knowledge Academy has been invited to join in with the Red Rock Athletic Conference 5^th/6^th Grade and 7^th/8^th Grade Boys and Girls Cross-Country season this year.

This will be the first year that Explore Knowledge Academy will be fielding an interscholastic Cross-Country team that will be competing against other schools.

Please come support our student athletes at the following sites. The races will begin approximately 4:00pm.
