Terri Keener, President
Terri Keener is a returning EKA Board Member. Ms. Keener’s family has been with EKA for 11 years, with a niece and daughter who are EKA graduates and a daughter who is a current EKA student. Ms. Keener earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Since 1986, Ms. Keener has worked and volunteered with various agencies that serve children and families, including mental health, education, and protective services.
Tracy DiFillippo, Vice President
Tracy DiFillippo is a commercial litigator at Armstrong Teasdale, LLP, practicing in the areas of banking, construction, medical and dental malpractice, and insurance. Accomplished in the legal industry, she was named to Mountain States Super Lawyers® Rising Stars and to Nevada Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite.” She is the co-founder and Chair of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Nevada, which she has served for four years. As content co-chair of the Pretrial, Practice and Discovery Committee of the American Bar Association’s Litigation Section, she regularly serves as an author for the website. Tracy received her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law and B.A. from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. She is a proud mother of a student who attends EKA.
Frank Tavares, Treasurer
Frank Tavares is a proud father of three students who attend EKA. He is heavily involved in the Southern Nevada community and sits on numerous committees and boards. He recently ran for Nevada State Assembly in the District in which he lives. He has over 10 years of experience in the Real Estate Industry where he is currently the Assistant Manager of the Mortgage Servicing Department at Credit Union 1.
Irena Jacobson, Secretary
Irena is a certified grant writer and art educator. Since 2001 she has worked at a writer and published works primarily in the fields of art, education, theater, yoga, nutrition and medicine.
Originally from Toronto, Canada she has a B.A. in English Language and Art. Through the Las Vegas Art Museum and Clark County School District she was an art lecturer with the Outreach and Adopt-A-School- Programs. She has also volunteered as a Docent at the Neon Museum. After navigating the private school, public school and homeschool alternatives in education over the last eight years in Las Vegas, Irena is thrilled to have her two children at EKA.
Susan Bobiner, Member
Susan Bobiner is the proud parent of a student at EKA. Upon the completion of her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from The City University of New York at Brooklyn College she taught in an inner-city Junior High school in Brooklyn. She was earned tenure in the New York City Board of Education. Presently, Susan Bobiner is a retired middle school special education teacher having spent over twenty-two years with the Clark County School District of Nevada.
David Ortlipp, Member
David is the Business Manager at New Song Church in Henderson. He has a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, an MBA and has a background in financial services, accounting and financial software. Originally from Australia, David has been a resident of Henderson since 2006. In addition to work on the Board for Explore Knowledge Academy, David also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Henderson District Public Libraries and the Henderson Community Foundation. He is a graduate of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Henderson program and continues to be involved in the program’s alumni association including the organizing committee for the annual Biddin’ for Bottles fundraising event.
